Laskowski Talk

Depending on the Ecosystem/ Microsystems—-the environment matters

You have to be fluid, not static.  Being able to evolve…like a virus.

Earth evolves around the sun

We are moving, always moving

Thinking as one. We are the sum of so many parts!!

Transforming Education in Brazil: Founded Super Mentor

The Research University

Designership Institute Stanford Fellow

In 2017 at Stanford, I taught Artur the Computer Science course, Design Design as Discovery, one of the most challenging courses in our Pre-Collegiate Studies program due to its hands on, real world tech for good focus. Artur immediately emerged as the design leader and commanded a presence that resulted in elevated performance. Artur is memorable and well known in our Stanford PreCollegiate program for his  philosophy that education in Brazil is key and students are the ones to transform it”.

Making Cities Better

Designership Institute Stanford

Elvis Zhang, Designership Fellow, Stanford

Elvis Zhang, who grew up in China, has been watching these patterns of urban growth. So, he set out to learn all he could and to find a solution, with the help of science and nanotechnology. According to Zhang, some 640 million people are living under an extreme level of smog, haze and other environmental pollution. Instead of heading off to college in 2017, Zhang chose to become a Designership Institute Fellow to start Oxy2, a company to market and distribute two technologies that he had invented and patented: a mechanism for collecting and purifying air pollutants through a nanofiber chemical biodegradable filter and an individual nano-thin passive filter.

Compassion Revolution

“I founded this organization in response to the suicide clusters in my neighborhood & my own experience helping prevent my close friend’s suicide, which opened my eyes to the issues with stress & adolescent mental health at large. It’s a global matter. We’re here to shatter the stigma around mental health & support each other by sharing stories of growth & recovery among the youth population.

While we are all different, we’ve almost all had experiences with adversity. We’re here to grow from these, learn how to cope, & create a resilient community. Your story deserves to be heard, & your well-being deserves to be prioritized. Let’s get well together.”

I am a 20-year-old software engineering student at Stanford! I specialize in iOS Engineering, Data Science, and design.  I am a fellow at the Designership Institute at Stanford where I build initiatives for students to realize their potential through tech. I also worked at Yewno as lead of product and engineering for Yewno Create, a platform for students to design, collaborate and publish articles to peer-reviewed Journals. Ever since I built my first mobile app for my High School when I was 13 I developed a passion for innovating within the realms of technology! After coming to San Francisco in Summer 2016, I graduated High School early and moved to SF from New York so I can pursue expand my knowledge in Computer Science and Machine Learning to make an even bigger impact! I am now enjoying my time at Stanford where I am taking classes ranging from hacking the genome to cybersecurity to preventing sexual assault on college campuses!
